Mitch Tassell
Front Counter
Mitch is most likely the first person you see when you walk through the door at NEHD. Mitch is responsible for ‘Front of House’ duties, stores, logistics and hydraulic hose assembly. His kind, caring and thoughtful personality sees him excel in customer service, he is a trusted and respected member of the NEHD family.

Kurt Gallagher
Diesel Mechanic
Kurt joined the business at the end 2022 as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic fresh out of his apprenticeship. Kurt settled into the NEHD family straight away and has since stepped up as our lead mechanic and general “good bloke”. He brings sound knowledge and experience to the team with a delightful can-do attitude happy to tackle any job no matter how big or small.

Chaney Haslem
Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Chaney has a passion for all things mechanical and loves his fast, loud Fords often competing in motor sport activities, shredding tyres and making smoke. Chaney is a capable apprentice with enough skill, common sense and drive to tackle most jobs given to him. It’s great to have a young team player like Chaney part of our team.

Peter Maitz
School-based Trainee
Pete is a school-based apprentice who works 1 day a week and most school holidays. Pete started with NEHD after doing a couple of weeks work experience deciding a mechanical trade was his calling. Pete brings a positive and enthusiastic attitude with him and the NEHD team look forward seeing him grow.

Kellie Cook
Admin
A local girl, Kellie handles all the administration in the front office. She is articulate in nature and her strengths lie in making sure the i’s are dotted and t’s crossed. Being a mother of four she handles the boys in the workshop with ease, has a great sense of humour and can give as good as she gets!

Nick Tasker
Apprentice Fitter Machinist
Nick has come to the team at NEHD with a wealth of previous experience in the engineering and manufacture industry. Nick is a fully qualified Boilermaker and qualified in structural welding. Nick is taking on a mature age apprenticeship as a Fitter Machinist, we look forward to seeing his skills grow in this area.

Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Nick joined our team in 2024 in the 4th year of his apprenticeship. Nicks experience lies predominately in the truck repair industry but he is quickly picking up the hydraulic, construction and agriculture repair side of the business. Nick’s calm, reliable and practical attitude towards the job makes him a versatile team member. Nick is often onsite attending breakdowns or regular maintenance, if you happen to see him, say G’day.
Meet the Directors

Aran Toovey
Director
Aran has been involved in the industry since he left school in the late 90’s. After completing his apprenticeship as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Aran has studied Business Management, Training and Assessment and Fluid Engineering giving him the skill set to co-run the fast-paced business NEHD has evolved into. Aran believes there is always a way to get the job done no matter how tricky.

Kirsty Toovey
The Actual Boss
Kirsty manages the day to day running of the business and has a handle on most things admin. She has had a hands-on role in NEHD since Aran and her first bought the business in 2020. Kirsty manages the in and out going accounts, monitors stock levels, and generally enjoys keeping the boys in line.
